Psalm 96 begins with the words:
O sing to the LORD a new song;
Sing to the LORD, all the earth.
Sing to the LORD, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvellous works among all the peoples
In 1971, Joe Raposo wrote a song for Sesame Street that eventually became a hit for the Carpenters. It was called Sing (a song).
"Sing, Sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad."
There are days where we as Christians forget to sing. No matter how dark our daily struggles are, we need to sing.
We sometimes forget the joy of Christ. We need to let go of our struggles, and sing of God’s MARVELLOUS works. “Don’t worry that its not good enough”.
Just-
Sing to the Lord a new song.
(This coming Sunday, the Sanctuary choir will be singing “Sing to the Lord a Marvelous Song” by Eugene Butler. The lyrics are based on Psalm 96).
