Peace Be With You - Reflections 10-12-17

Philippians 4:7

The texts for Sunday, October 15, 2017

One of our Lutheran vendors sent out a word of peace to us in light of the wildfires and shooting.... and I would still add hurricanes, flooding, and earthquakes. It has been troubling times for souls these days. As the one who crafts the Prayers of Intercession for our Sunday worship, I find myself dreading the news each weekend for fear of what has happened next. I feel a bit battered by so many catastrophes and I really appreciated Old Lutheran for their e-mail of peace.

And not just any peace. It is the peace of God that wipes away the tears of all people as death is swallowed up forever in Isaiah. It is the still waters of Psalm 23. It is the God of peace with us as we reconcile with each other in Philippians.

I am also the one that says "The peace of the Lord be with you always" and get to hear back from the whole bunch of people in front of me "And also with you".

I do not take that word of good will lightly. And I am blessed each week when I receive it. It is only in God that there is any hope of peace.

I think that is enough this week.

May the peace of God be with you always.
