Growing In Faith Together
April 14, 2019

TODAY’S TEXTS

Zechariah 9:9-10
Philippians 2:5-11
Luke 19:28-40

GATHERED BY GRACE
When we read the account of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, it is not that we are propelled back in time, but rather that today Jesus enters our city, our assembly, our lives, and we laud him as king.
(Worship Guidebook for Lent and the Three Days, Augsburg Fortress, 2009)

Discuss in your household or small group:
* How would you react to seeing a world leader on a donkey? What does Jesus’ choice of animal mean to you?
* If Jesus were to ride into your town today, what would be his means of transportation? What signs and symbols would speak today?
*  How do you “let the same mind that was in Christ” be in you? What does that look like in your life?

PRAYERS FOR THIS WEEK
For the Week: What wondrous love is this, O my soul.

Throughout the Day: Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us.

Blessing to Share:
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.

For mealtime say responsively:
Let every tongue confess: Jesus Christ is Lord.

Lenten Mealtime Prayer:
Lord, we gather by your grace
Forgiven much, we seek your face
Fed with these gifts of yours so kind.
Lead us to love all whom we find.

FOR FURTHER REFLECTION
Devotional Practice:
If we skip from Palm Sunday to Easter, without stopping to ponder the cross then we will have misunderstood the whole thing. Take some time each day during the coming week to reflect on the story of Jesus’ passion. You can use the daily readings from this page. We also will post them on the website and on Facebook each day with a reflection question or two.
You could even share your thoughts and prayers either place (note the comment section for the website is way down past “related posts”).

Holy Week Ritual:  Attend services on Maundy Thursday and Good Friday where ever you are.

If you are in town, you are welcome to join us. Services are at 12:10 pm and 7 pm both Thursday and Friday.

The Vigil is at 4 pm on Saturday. We will walk down to join JustChurch at Merge in downtown at 5 pm.
