Wednesday of Holy Week 4-13-22

Read:
Luke 23:1-25

The Jerusalem leadership council declared that Jesus was guilty of blasphemy. They took him to Pilate, the prefect for the Roman province of Judea. The religious crime of blasphemy becomes insurrection to provide a civil reason for a death sentence. Jesus is passed back and forth between two power systems represented by Pilate and Herod. Eventually Pilate succumbs to crowd pressure and sentences Jesus to death by crucifixion.

When Herod saw Jesus, he was very glad...
because he had heard about him and was hoping to see
him perform some sign. (23:8)

+ In what ways do you keep Jesus as someone who is "interesting" rather than one who transforms you?

+ What do you hope Jesus would do for you?

+ What might Jesus hope to do through you?
