Wednesday Evening Soup Suppers and Holden Evening Prayer

In keeping with a Gloria Dei tradition cherished by many, after Ash Wednesday worship on February 22, the following 5 Wednesdays will feature a 5:30 soup supper, followed by 6:30 worship using the beautiful Holden Evening Prayer liturgy.  The Holden Evening Prayers will be live streamed and can be found on our GatheredByGrace YouTube Channel.

The scripture readings, prayers, and readings each week will coincide with our racism conversations and studies. Those readings will be available each week for worship.

Our theme hymn for these worship services, to be sung each Wednesday, is a beautifully hopeful one to wrap around our study and conversations together this year. It is stanza 1 of ELW 726, “Light Dawns on a Weary World.”

Light dawns on a weary world
when eyes begin to see all people's dignity.
Light dawns on a weary world:
the promised day of justice comes.
The trees shall clap their hands; the dry lands, gush with springs;
the hills and mountains shall break forth with singing!
We shall go out in joy, and be led forth in peace,
 as all the world in wonder echoes shalom.

 Plan to join us on Wednesday evenings in March for this mid-week Lenten reflection.
