WELCOME

We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, located in the Southeastern Iowa Synod, and situated on the eastern edge of the University of Iowa campus on the corner of Market and Dubuque Streets in Iowa City, IA.

We are also a Reconciling In Christ congregation. This means we publicly welcome, celebrate, and include Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual people collectively. You can read more about our commitment to being an RIC congregation here.

Sundays at 8 and 10:30 a.m. from mid-September through mid-May.
Memorial Day through Labor Day at 9:15 a.m..

Holy Communion is celebrated at all services, with bread free of gluten, dairy, egg, and nuts, and options for wine or juice.

DIRECTIONS & PARKING

Gloria Dei is located at the corner of Market and Dubuque Streets in downtown Iowa City. 

On Sundays, parking is available in the lot to the West of the building, as well as along the alley in the back. For more parking information, especially regarding weekday restricted parking, read more here.

EDUCATION

Education hour is between services, from 9:15-10:15am from mid-September through mid-May.

Classes for children age 3 through 5th grade are on the upper level. Grown-ups are invited for breakfast pizza, donut holes, coffee, and conversation in Parents’ Corner, also on the upper level during this time.

Adult Education is in the Fellowship Hall on the lower level.
